ROSENDALE POLICE DEPARTMENT Phone: 920-872-5050
The Village of Rosendale has an Ordinance pertaining to the upkeep of yards and property in relation to the cutting of grass and weeds.
Complaints have been received on numerous properties in the Village. Letters have been mailed out to the resident/property owners. The Village Ordinance in question is Village Ordinance 99A pertains to Controlling Noxious Weeds and Maintenance of Vegetation and states:
99A-2 Noxious Weeds and Grasses – shall mean any plant listed under current Wisconsin Statutes, and as amended from time to time: Nuisance Weeds Wis. Stat. 23.235(1(a) and Noxious Weeds Wi. Stat. 66.407, and all other weeds and grasses exceeding 8 inches in height.
99A-3 Control of Noxious Weeds and Grasses; Height Limit. It shall be the responsibility of every person, firm, corporation, owner or occupant of property with in the Village of Rosendale to maintain the entire property and the area between the property line and street or curb edge (also known as right of way). Such areas shall be mowed and maintained at a height not to exceed 8 inches.
As a resident/land/property owner in the Village of Rosendale it is ultimately your responsibility to ensure that you are in compliance with all the Village Ordinances. The allowing your grass and weeds to grow uncontrolled can lead to unwanted wildlife and vermin in the area and is a violation of the standards set forth in the Village Ordinances.
The Village Ordinance allows that for any violations of this Village Ordinance, the Village will serve notice to the resident and or owner that they are in violation and allow 5 days to remedy the situation. Should the grass not be cut after the 5 days a citation may be issued for failing to control noxious weeds and grasses. If this notice is not adhered to the Village is authorized to enter upon such property and cause the weeds and grass to be cut, mowed and or removed in conformity with this Ordinance. You will only receive one notice pertaining to this ordinance per property per calendar year. Should the Village be required to cut your lawn a fee of $100.00 per violation will be assessed as well as any fines associated with the citations, the fines associated with these citations are not less than $50.00 and no more than $500.00.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at the Rosendale Police Department. Thank you for your attention in this matter.
Respectfully,
G.S. Rose

Dog and Cat Licenses
Provide more security for your pet. Lost pets wearing current licenses find their way home sooner than those without. Pets without a collar and tags are often assumed to be a stray and never make their way home to their family. Let people know that you care about your pet. Keep your animal's vaccinations and licenses current. Place a collar with current tags on you pet. If we can locate you, we can get your pet home to you. Licenses can be obtained from the Village Clerk. A record of vaccination is required.
Ordinance #102 now requires ALL DOGS & CATS to be licensed. Residents will be allowed only 3 dogs or 3 cats, or any combination thereof. Licenses can be obtained from the Village Clerk durning normal business hours. A record of vaccination is required.
Dog Licenses: $5.00 each for Spayed or Neutered, $10.oo each if not Spayed or Neutered
Cat Licenses: $5.00 each for Spayed or Neutered, $10.oo each if not Spayed or Neutered
~Late fees: $10.00 per animal if registered AFTER March 31st~
In addition, if you fail to get a valid Village license for each dog or cat you own by March 31st, you may be issued a citation for violating Village Ordinance 102, resulting in a court appearance and fine of $187.00 per non-licensed pet. Call 920-872-2740 if you have any questions.
If you have a lost pet, please contact the Police Department or Public Works Office. The Village has a kennel to house lost pets until the owner(s) can be contacted.
Ordinance #102 defines animal control by the following:
* All dogs must be on a leash or chain not to exceed 6 feet in length and must be in the hands of the person controlling the dog.
* All persons having custody or control of any dog must keep the dog in an enclosure; be kept on an appropriate chain or tie not to exceed 6 feet in length; in an enclosed yard, whether walled or fenced, or in any other appropriate restraining enclosure.
